Official: Ralf Rangnick to take Solskjaer spot as manager

Manchester United has officially announced the appointment of Ralf Rangnick, who will be the team’s interim manager until the end of the season. The 63-year-old German will then continue to work at the club for another two years, during which he will play a consulting role.

Michael Carrick will remain at the helm of the team while Rangnick arranges everything around his work visa. This means that in the derby with Arsenal, the former midfielder will still lead the Red Devils.

“I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club. The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience.” said Rangnick.

“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis.”, added the German manager.

United expressed special thanks to the management of Lokomotiv Moscow for their assistance, which consisted in the fact that the Russian club let go of Rangnik, who was sports director there, even though he had a contract with them.

His coaching talant was first spotted in Ulm. Where Ralf Rangnick led the team to his debut in the First Bundesliga in 1999. Followed by stays in some of the best teams in German football, including Stuttgart, Schalke 04, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig. Rangnick is a former director of RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, and in July 2021 he moved to Lokomotiv Moscow.
