Ralf Rangnick is the latest top pick to take charge

Former coach of RB Leipzig Ralf Rangnick will take over the team of Manchester United, claims “The Athletic”. According to the information, the 63-year-old German has reached an agreement with the Red Devils and now just needs to get approval from his current club Lokomotiv Moscow, where he plays the role of head of sports and development at the Russian club, for the deal to take place. The publication also announced that Rangnick will head United as a temporary manager until the end of the season and then will remain as a consultant for Old Trafford for another two years. Former Red Devils player Michael Carrick is currently leading the team following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last Sunday. He made his debut in a Champions League win over Villarreal on Tuesday and is expected to lead the team against Chelsea this Sunday. United would want to appoint as a permanent team manager after the end of the season Mauricio Pochettino, who currently leads the French giants Paris Saint-Germain and has a contract with Paris until 2023. Rangnick was Leipzig’s coach in two short stays, as well as football director of both the Bulls and the Austrian subsidiary club RB Salzburg. Rangnick is one of the architects of the modern style of play, in which clubs put high pressure – something that has influenced managers such as Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralph Hasenhuttl and others. While United are unlikely to win the Premier League this season, the squad is fighting for victory in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona joked on social media with all the rumors about the possible successor of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and announced himself as the new manager of the Red devils. “Hello friends! I would like to exclusively inform you that I am the new manager of Manchester United. I will tell you later the names that are part of my great team. See you soon,” said the legendary number 7 in his Instagram profile.
